Exposing Yourself

Being vulnerable has always been very difficult for me. I have always felt that if I was vulnerable, it was a sign of weakness. This is also one of the reasons why people felt and even feel to this day that I am a person who is not easy to get to know. It's not that I am overly guarded but I feel that trust needs to be earned and should not be given easily. This could be a flaw due to people wanting to take advantage of my niceness and servants heart. I have learned to use discernment to determine if someone is genuine or not and understand how important my time is to me and my family.

I say all of this because exposing who you truly are leaves room for judgement. While writing my book, I would stop at times and say to myself I wonder what people would think when they read this. I wonder what they would say. I would then close the computer. It took several nights and rewrites to determine some of the "right" words to say in order to convey my message but also give some insight to my journey. This was and is not an easy journey. It takes heart and courage to expose yourself to others. Though we know, it is not up to people to judge but lets be realistic, people do judge, and sometimes their judgement can really hurt your feelings.

I decided that people are going to have their opinions. They are not going to listen to everything I have to say. They are not going to value everything that I have to say. That's okay. My goal is for those who do see me, hear me, and feel me, that they are able to look at their own life and reflect on themselves. That they are also able and willing to move forward with the changes that they may have been stagnant with.

So my message to you and for you to share with others, is to step out of your comfort zone. Do something this week that you may have wanted to do but was reluctant due to you being vulnerable. Do it anyway! Every situation is an opportunity to learn something. What are you going to learn if you don't try?

Until next time.. Keep doing great things!
